Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4: Samsung is showing innovation – in the wrong place

Currently, more and more details about Samsung’s upcoming foldables are leaking. After leaks to CPU spread bthe latest news on loading speed and possible colors on the web. We summarize what the leakers revealed.

Probably the most important topic first: what colors are the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 likely to have? In both models, one color should surprise you in particular. Leaker and noted analyst Ross Young posted on Twitter:

New colors for Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4

Does Samsung want to reposition itself in color? It seems so, because according to Young, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 will appear in gold. A black model, however, does not appear in the list. As one Twitter user notes, this is probably the first model that Samsung doesn’t offer in black. In his response, however, Young is convinced that sooner or later there will also be a black version of the foldable cellphone. As other color options, he names gray, light blue and light purple.

He also predicts an unusual color for the Galaxy Z Fold 4. In addition to black and gray, the successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 (click here for the test) will come in beige. It will go perfectly with your tropical or safari outfit.

We can’t yet tell what the colors will look like in the end just because they are named. Also, Samsung will definitely provide the color variants with sounder names than is in the tweet. Either way, we think it’s good that Samsung is bringing a bit more color into play and also offering some unusual tones.

The technical details, on the other hand, are a bit more specific. Charging speed data has been leaked in China. There, the Flip 4 and Fold 4 have been certified for 25W charging speeds. In the case of the Flip 4, that’s a 10W upgrade over the Galaxy Z Flip 3 (you can read our review here). With the Galaxy Fold 3 (here with contract) and the future Fold 4, the charging current would remain the same.

This news may disappoint some Samsung fans, as the South Korean company has been shipping its flagships with this relatively low charging power for years. The Galaxy S22 Ultra recently showed in a test that an increase in power rating doesn’t necessarily mean an increase in charging speed. If Samsung doesn’t add technology, even the most beautiful colors won’t last long. Or how do you see it? You can vote under the article.
