Lufthansa discusses A350-1000 with Airbus

Hooray!

All that’s missing now is that it turns out that an A350-900/-1000 fleet would be optimal for Zurich and much more efficient than the A330/A350/B777 mix with separate fleet bodies.
And you can fly the B777 in FRA mixed with the yoghurt cup. Wouldn’t that be an economical solution?

No, it wouldn’t.
Because the B77w works for Swiss, why should the planes be landed there and asked questions?

There is no doubt that the LH A35K can perform just as well. It surprises me anyway, because the direct successor of the A346 is probably the A35k.
Just as long, and in the desired 4-class layout, you get the approximately 300 seats you have in the A346.
To me, an A35k makes a lot of sense at LH, especially if it’s readily available now.
Then you can retire the A346 and B744, have a relatively small fleet, and not depend on Boeing’s tet-a-tet with the FAA.

It is not enough to look at the LH fleet itself, but also that of AAU, Swiss and Brussels.
AUA will probably get a few B789s, almost nothing left.

If the LH takes all the A350 itself? It would be a lot.
The A359 replacing the A343 for Swiss would complement the A333 and the B77W.
Brussels only operates Airbuses and could take some too.

Order the A35k now, post FRA and MUC, B744 and A346 in the medium term.
If you then obtain the B779 in 3 years and more, do you put it in FRA as a complement / replacement for the B748 and do you center the A350 in MUC? LH has owned the B748 for 10 years now, so it is possible that when the B779 arrives – it will take another 3 years – to consider phasing it out.

With the price of oil, each A350 pays for itself relatively quickly if it replaces one of the 4 radiators.

And the WB fleet will then be lighter in the group anyway:
A333, B789, A359/k, B77W/9, B748

Finally, I thought to myself, why do you have to push LH so hard for his happiness.

Manufacturer B does not deliver and there is proven material from manufacturer A – and even at a special price wg. random cancellations. It was therefore surprising that there were no rumours.

LH has more luck than common sense now 🙂
