On the return, the Unioner increased again and, thanks to Christopher Trimmel, made it 2-0 (30th) at the Europa-Park stadium. Christian Streich looked tense and tried to push his team forward. But it’s even worse: Urs Fischer’s team brings the score to 3-0 (41st) thanks to Sheraldo Becker in front of a horrified Friborg public.

At the start of the second half, the best joker in the Bundesliga, Nils Petersen, replaced Jeong Woo-Yeong (46th). Freiburg put increasing pressure and had good chances thanks to Höler and Petersen. In the 59th minute, Höler made it 3-1 – but it was Freiburg’s only goal of the afternoon. Shortly before the end, Union even scored the goal to make it 4-1 (90th) thanks to András Schäfer. Union now have their own Europa League entry in the home game against Bochum next week.

Leverkusen withdraws TSG

Many goals were also scored in other Bundesliga matches. Hoffenheim and Bayer Leverkusen separated 2:4. TSG only made it 1-0 (22nd) through Georginio Rutter, and soon after Leverkusen equalized to make it 1-1 (34th) through Patrik Schick. Hoffenheim’s Christoph Baumgartner took the lead again shortly before the break to make it 2-1 (36th) – and celebrated exuberantly.

Bayer could only equalize again in the second half thanks to Moussa Diaby to bring the score to 2-2 (73rd). Bayer later took a 3-2 (76th) lead through Schick’s second goal, shortly before the end Alario moved on to a 4-2 win for Bayer and will now play in the premier league next season.

Dortmund win against Fürth – Wolfsburg win against Cologne

Borussia Dortmund picked up a victory against Fürth, as was to be expected. BVB won against the bottom of the table in a meaningless 3:1. Julian Brandt made it 1-0 for BVB in the 26th minute, Fürth made it 1-1 in the second half through Jessic Ngankam (70). But shortly after, it was Brandt again who increased the lead to 2:1 (72nd). A few minutes later, Felix Passlack took the lead 3-1 in the 77th minute. This means that BVB can no longer take second place.

And VfL Wolfsburg also beat 1. FC Köln at their home stadium 1-0 (43rd) thanks to a goal from Yannick Gerhardt. Despite the loss, Cologne will be represented in Europe next season.
