Lilian visits Becker in prison for the first time

Boris Becker has been detained for a week at Wandsworth prison in London. Now he receives his first visit from his girlfriend Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro. He will rejoice in this, because daily life in prison does not leave much time for joy.

Former tennis star Boris Becker received his first visit from girlfriend Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro at Wandsworth Prison in London. This is illustrated by images available in the newspaper “Bild”. Lilian can be seen in black jeans, a light blue denim jacket and white sneakers. She covers her face with a black Puma baseball cap and dark sunglasses as she walks towards the visitor entrance of the correctional facility.

She carries with her a large sports bag, also from the sporting goods manufacturer from Herzogenaurach. Boris Becker was the face of Puma for many years and was instrumental in the company’s meteoric rise in the late 1980s and 1990s.

Lilian, who had also watched Becker’s trial in the courtroom, broke down in tears after the verdict was announced last Friday, according to trial observers. After a kiss in the air in the direction of Becker, who was immediately dismissed, Lilian and a friend would have retired to their apartment in the Kensington district. Since then, she has only been spotted once by wandering photographers.

The daily life of Boris Becker in prison

As the “Bild” newspaper reports, Becker is allowed to leave his cell for 30 minutes every day. He probably doesn’t eat much either: the portions are small, as a prison worker told the newspaper. Becker reportedly ate ground meat and vegetables on the weekends. And he can’t buy much more either, because according to the newspaper, the tennis pro only receives 10 pounds of pocket money per week, the equivalent of 11.75 euros.

Becker must follow a strict daily routine in prison. As the newspaper “Bild” reports, he is woken up every day at 7 a.m. Breakfast is an hour later. Apparently, he’s only allowed to shower twice a week. And after 7 p.m. the cell is locked and you are not allowed out.

A week ago, on Friday afternoon, the court sentenced Boris Becker to 30 months in prison, which was executed immediately. The judge and jury considered it evidence that he deliberately concealed funds and property in his bankruptcy proceedings in order to protect them from the bankruptcy trustee’s access. Becker and his team can still appeal the guilty verdict and sentence.
