The night of May 1 passed peacefully in Hamburg. A total of 24 protests were recorded for the weekend in Hamburg. At first there was a rally at the Schanzenviertel on Saturday.

Pyrotechnics will be lit in front of the stage in the evening.

According to the police, around 550 demonstrators gathered in front of the Sternschanze S-Bahn station in the evening under the slogan “Class festival – against the state and capital”. Two participants lit so-called smoke bombs, the police have arrested both for the time being. In the evening, pyrotechnics were burned in front of the stage, otherwise the situation was calm. The organizer, known to independent left-wing circles, had registered 500 participants.

In the past, left-wing demonstrators had repeatedly engaged in violent clashes with the police in the Schanzenviertel around May Day. After the serious riots surrounding the G20 summit in 2017, however, things had been rather quiet in recent years.
